People for Animal Welfare Society, PAWS, is looking for big-hearted folks willing to share a small part of their weekend with the dogs and cats at the local animal shelter.
Weekend volunteers are on a monthly rotation, and they do just the basics– caring for the animals and keeping the shelter clean and looking good. Chores are done morning and evening, but new volunteers can chose whether they’d like to do chores both mornings of a weekend, both evenings of a weekend, or morning and evening the same day. Any help is greatly appreciated.
Chores typically take an hour or an hour-and-a-half, depending on how many dogs and cats are at the shelter, and if volunteers are solo or have help. Families are welcome, but children must be accompanied at all times. No exceptions are allowed on that one.
The more weekend volunteers there are, the less frequently they’ll be needed.
“If you love animals and you think this is something you’d like to be part of, give us a call,” a spokesperson said. “The absolute best part of this is the joy you get from being around the animals. There will always be a loving, happy dog or cat to welcome you to our group!”

Also, dog walkers are needed for week nights and weekends. Volunteers must be able to handle large dogs as well as smaller ones.
